Introducing Power-teK RL 220 ALU: A Lightweight Insulation Solution for heat storage tanks Tank insulation, lightweight solution, optimised logistics # Introducing Power-teK RL 220 ALU:                                           A Lightweight Insulation Solution for heat storage tanks By Knauf Insulation Technical Solutions on November 11, 2024 Tank insulation lightweight solution optimised logistics #### **Power-teK RL 220 ALU: A Lightweight, High-Performance Insulation Solution Designed with Our Customers in Mind** At Knauf Insulation, we believe that innovation is driven                                                                                    by the real needs of our customers. Over the years,![RL 220 ALU](https://blog.knaufinsulation-ts.com/hs-fs/hubfs/RL%20220%20ALU.png?width=352&height=239&name=RL%20220%20ALU.png) we’ve listened closely to the challenges faced by professionals working on large-scale industrial insulation projects. From storage tanks and vessels to heat storage systems, we understand the demand for effective thermal insulation that is lightweight, easy to install, and capable of withstanding demanding conditions.   That’s why we’re excited to introduce our latest product: **Power-teK RL 220 ALU**—a versatile and efficient insulation solution, carefully crafted based on direct feedback from the field.   ###### **Listening to Customer Needs** **![shutterstock_2424433405_web](https://blog.knaufinsulation-ts.com/hs-fs/hubfs/shutterstock_2424433405_web.jpg?width=600&height=400&name=shutterstock_2424433405_web.jpg)** The development of Power-teK RL 220 ALU began by engaging with engineers, contractors, and insulation professionals who needed a product that not only meets the technical requirements of complex installations but also simplifies the process. Through conversations, site visits, and close collaboration, we identified several key challenges: 1. **Lightweight Need** Heavy insulation is tough to handle, especially on large tanks. The industry needed a lighter option that still performs well thermally. 2. **Streamlined  installation** Multi-layer insulation on large tanks is costly and time-consuming. Customers wanted fewer layers without loss of thermal efficiency. 3. **Weather protection** Outdoor insulation risks exposure to rain and harsh weather before cladding, requiring materials that stay intact during installation. 4. **Sustainability ** Customers increasingly seek eco-friendly products that minimize environmental impact without sacrificing quality. Armed with these insights, we set out to develop a product that addresses these needs while upholding our commitment to quality and sustainability.   ##### **The Solution: Power-teK RL 220 ALU** Power-teK RL 220 ALU is our answer to these challenges. This **lightweight Glass Mineral Wool mat**, reinforced with a tear-resistant glass mesh and aluminium foil, is designed for the thermal insulation of heat storage tanks, vessels, and other large structures where high-performance insulation is crucial. Here’s how it meets the demands of today’s industrial insulation projects: **👉 Lightweight and easy to install** Power-teK RL 220 ALU's glass mineral wool is lighter than traditional materials, simplifying transport and installation, especially for large structures. Perfect for projects requiring large-scale insulation with minimal hassle. **👉 High-performance and efficiency across thicker layers** With up to 300 mm thickness in one layer, Power-teK RL 220 ALU reduces the need for multiple layers, saving time, materials, and labor costs. **👉 Weather- resistant aluminum facing** OIts aluminum-facing protects the insulation during installation, minimizing risks from rain exposure and enhancing long-term durability. **👉 Sustainable Design** Made with 80% recycled content and ECOSE® Technology, Power-teK RL 220 ALU is formaldehyde-free and environmentally friendly. ****👉** **Optimized for logistics**** Compressed packaging allows for easier transportation and storage, reducing logistics costs.   ###### **Built on Standards, Certified for Quality** Like all Knauf Insulation products, Power-teK RL 220 ALU is designed and manufactured in compliance with the highest international standards. It meets the rigorous requirements of: **![shutterstock_1936654912-web](https://blog.knaufinsulation-ts.com/hs-fs/hubfs/shutterstock_1936654912-web.jpg?width=329&height=149&name=shutterstock_1936654912-web.jpg)**   **ISO 9001**   for Quality Management **ISO 14001** for Environmental Management **ISO 50001** for Energy Management **ISO 45001** for Health and Safety Management   These certifications, awarded by Tüv Nord, offer additional peace of mind, ensuring that our products meet both performance and sustainability benchmarks.   ##### **Meeting the Future of Insulation** ![4w5104yy](https://blog.knaufinsulation-ts.com/hs-fs/hubfs/4w5104yy.png?width=600&height=298&name=4w5104yy.png) Power-teK RL 220 ALU is more than just a product - it's a response to the needs of modern industrial insulation.
